LEED Information

Helping You Achieve LEED-H Certification

LEED H Credit Category LEED H Requirement Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation Contribution Additional Comments
Energy & Atmosphere-Optimize Energy Performance 1-34 points depending on HERS Index rating beyond IECC 2004 Insulation helps reduce building energy demand. Overall contribution dependent on R-value used. Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation R-value of 5.1/inch and its ability to reduce unwanted air infiltration increase the percent energy reduction achievable.
Materials & Resources-Waste Management Up to 3 points for reducing construction waste For rehab projects, Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation can be injected in existing walls without the need for a gut rehab Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation will safely and effectively seal cavities around existing wiring and even where ineffective insulation is already in place
Materials & Resources-Environmentally Preferred Product Local Production .5 points – 50% of all materials are extracted, harvested, or recovered within 500 miles. Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation is manufactured onsite comprised of 50% locally extracted materials Check with local sales representative to determine raw material place of origin.
Materials & Resources-Environmentally Preferred Product Emission Specifications .5 points – Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation has 0 VOC’s Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation is produced from a phenolic resin without the use of raw formalin. Be careful of urea-formaldehyde foams that call themselves “aminoplast”

Note: No individual material enables a credit point to be taken within LEED because each category is dependent on the aggregate of all materials and their proportionate relationship to the total dollar cost of all materials.

Indoor Air Quality- Management Plan 1 point: If option 2 –
(air testing method) is
used, Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation will not
contribute urea formaldehyde to the indoor air pollutants.
Tripolymer Inc. Injection Fam Insulation is produced from a phenolic resin without the use of raw formalin. Tripolymer Inc. Injection Foam Insulation is unlike the
“aminoplast” foams
which are urea-formaldehyde based.
